FAIRMOUNT — In a clash of volleyball elites who have combined to win 46
matches, Class A No.4-ranked Wes-Del rallied to beat Madison-Grant 24-26, 25-19,
25-9, 25-19 on Thursday.
Wes-Del improved to 21-6, while Madison-Grant finished the regular season at
25-7.
For Wes-Del, Sasha Gill had 11 kills and 14 digs, Alex Antrim 17 kills and 13
digs, and setter Logan Millspaugh was credited with 45 assists.
For Madison-Grant, Maria Ellingwood had 17 kills, Hunter Wise 13 and Cortney
Stephens 9.
Lauren Stanley added 21 digs, Lacey Little 17 and Brandie Russell 13.
Russell also had 33 assists and Katie Kohlmorgen had six.
Ellingwood also had 11 blocks, Stephens five and Kohlmorgen four.
Madison-Grant will have a week to prepare for its match against Eastern in the
Class 2A Oak Hill Sectional next Thursday.
JVS END 25-1: Madison-Grant’s junior varsity beat Wes-Del 25-17, 25-13. The Lady
Argylls’ only loss in 26 matches was to Marion.
Bethany Stansberry put down eight kills and Abbi Schwinn seven against Wes-Del.
Kelsey Mercker had eight digs, Darci Bangle seven and Schwinn five. Kohlmorgen
added six assists, Schwinn four aces, and with three aces each were Becky Lagle
and Allison Manwell.
